Panasonic Adds HiDef Audio to Video in the GH1

Canon made headlines with the 5D Mk. II’s ability to shoot high definition video in 1080p. This was a major development as it allowed photographers the ability to get a big movie look to the videos shot. This was because it brought lenses, shutter and aperture settings and depth of field to video. And it looked like a million. Panasonic sees the handwriting on the wall that convergence is the watchword in photography. But they’ve upped the ante to the next level with the Lumix GH1, which can not only shoot 1080p video, but it also adds Dolby digital audio to the mix, meaning photographers have a serious movie studio in their camera.

The Teddy Bear 4-Port USB Hub with Alarm Clock

Posted by Jeshurun Godfrey Hastings in ,

This would be a great hub to travel with, that is if you’re into teddy bears. I will probably never understand the trend with cuddly stuffed and teddy bear shaped hubs and USB drives. It’s almost like they’re marketed at kids, but then not really. Not many kids are old enough to need a hub, but are still willing to admit they love teddy bears, at least from what I can tell. Well this hub not only gives you extra ports for your USB gadgetry, but it has a built-in alarm clock too.

With this, while you’re out and about you can be sure that you’ll have an alarm clock that you really trust as well as a hub. The clock itself is powered by a AAA battery, so it doesn’t actually have to be plugged into your computer to keep running. It has a grand total of four USB ports, one in each foot and then one in each arm. They come in three colors, pink, blue and white.

The much awaited HONDA JAZZ....finally LAUNCHED....

Posted by Jeshurun Godfrey Hastings in

The much awaited Honda Jazz is set to debut on June 10 2009. A lot has been said about the upcoming hatchback from the Honda Siel stable, and considering all the hype, this is working out to be one of the most awaited launches in 2009.

The Honda Jazz is set to come in as a premium hatchback that will take on the likes of the Skoda Fabia and Hyundai i20. To a certain extent it will also compete against the likes of some low level midsizers like the Swift Dzire and Ford Ikon. How it performs in a crowd is what keen eyes from both the industry and the auto enthusiast population will observe, but for now the stars seem to be shining nice and bright for the future of the Honda Jazz.

Honda Jazz

Powered by a 1.2 litre engine, the Jazz is the ideal city car which is said to come with great interior space, excellent fit and finish and decent performance. Expect it to be rather frugal and packed with goodies, for Honda intends on offering the Jazz as a single variant option only, much like the initial offering on the Civic.

Price is the prevailing issue on the Jazz, however all speculation will come to a rest by June 10th, when the car rolls out into the market.

There are two ways to get hold of any market. One is to compete with existing products, fight over volumes and eke out breathing space for a new product, but leaders through automotive history have seldom taken this approach of beating others at their own game.

The truly iconic automobile has always been about being avant garde, about setting new benchmarks and creating a whole new and wide open segment for itself. It is about inviting competition, not fighting it. Which brings us to the hot new and much anticipated Honda Jazz that yours truly had the opportunity to drive recently in sunny Goa.

Honda Jazz: First Drive!

Walk around it, and the Jazz's form appears chic, dynamic and utilitarian all at the same time. It is neither one of those aggressive flared wheel arch hatchback designs trying to flex its muscles, nor the sleek smooth and elegant lines of a sedan that look almost unbecoming on a small car.

The Jazz comes with a strong individuality in terms of design with its mini-MPV-esque approach which imparts a true sense of practicality even from the outside, but one that is far too youthful and vibrant to be labeled as a workhorse. At the onset, the proportions may look unconventional but they are so for reasons far more practical than mere aesthetic.

Honda Jazz launched!

It has an uber cool interiors too....

Honda SIEL has launched its much awaited premium hatchback, the Jazz, in Delhi. Pricing is in line with expectations. Read on to find out!

Honda SIEL has finally taken the wraps off the Honda Jazz hatchback in Delhi today. Pricing is right where we had expected it, in the region of Rs 7 lakh.

Honda Jazz

The spacious hatchback will come with a single engine option for now - the techno-laden 1.2-litre SOHC iVTEC powerplant. The engine is good for a class-leading 90PS of power and 110Nm of torque. Despite this, Honda's techno-wizardry makes this a very frugal powerplant too - we haven't tested it yet, only driven it, but ARAI certifies it to be in the region of 16 kmpl. Utilitarian aspects of the car are key too, and the Jazz offers the advantages of hatchback compactness with near-sedan space.

Saab Aero-X

Posted by Jeshurun Godfrey Hastings in

Saab Aero-X is a concept car by Saab unveiled at the 2006 Salon International de l'Auto. It is powered by a 2.8 L twin-turbocharged V6 running on pure ethanol that produces 400 hp. 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) is predicted to be 4.9 s and top speed is limited to 250 km/h (150 mph). It has a 7-speed manual transmission controlled by paddles on the steering wheel.

Like the American-market Saab 9-2X, the Aero-X has four wheel drive. The doors and windscreen are connected, so instead of using conventional doors or even gullwing doors, it uses a cockpit canopy where the entire top section of the car is opened. This offered the Aero X's driver full 180 degree vision, and also facilitates entry and exit from its low-slung cabin. The body is made of carbon fiber. The suspension is electronically-controlled. Even though it is a compact two-seat sports car, it has reasonable storage, as the rear features two storage facilities, with a conventional hatchback and sliding drawer underneath.
The interior offers "clean Scandinavian interior design". The car has no ordinary dials and buttons; instead, data is displayed on acrylic 'clear zones' in graphic 3D images. All interior and exterior lights utilize
LEDs.

It is a concept car, but if it is well received, it may go into production, probably based on a shortened Epsilon 2 platform.[citation needed]
"This study shows how the strength of the Saab brand heritage can inspire bold, innovative design," said
Bryan Nesbitt, the Executive Director of GM Design Europe. "As we move forward with new Saab product, we will remain focused on carefully cultivating this brand equity in the context of Scandinavian design values."
"This concept shows the exciting possibilities that are open to us as we evolve a more progressive design language for the Saab brand," says
Jan Åke Jonsson, Saab's Managing Director. "Our designers, engineers and marketers in Sweden are ideally placed to nurture and communicate the unique DNA of the Saab brand. Their work will ensure that future product proposals express core qualities, such as progressive design, sporty performance and emotional functionality, in a way that is specific to Saab."
